We have a number of great opportunities available this summer. These positions will fall under the Town, Fire Department, Recreation and Sts. Peter & Paul Parish pending funding.  Please see a list of all positions below:

Requirements:

Position eligibility fall under one of the following:

Canada Summer Jobs: 

Those applying for a summer position DO NOT need to be a student but must be between the ages of 15 and 30.

Advanced Skills & Education: 

High School Positions: Must be currently enrolled in Level I, II or III.

Post-Secondary Positions: Must be entering or returning to school in September.

OUTSIDE summer student worker

Outside Summer Student Worker

 

Duration: 7-8 Weeks

Hours: 30 Hours/Week

Pay: $16.00/Hour

 

Job Summary

The Outside Summer Student Worker is responsible for maintaining public spaces, the community playground, ensuring they are clean, safe, and visually appealing. This role includes tasks such as grass cutting, painting, assisting with parish maintenance and clean up, and assisting the town fire department with maintenance-related duties.

Key Responsibilities

❖ General town maintenance and clean up of community playground, ball field and other green spaces.

❖ Grass cutting, raking, painting/staining, garbage collection.

❖ Assisting with Fire Department and Parish maintenance and clean up.

❖ Assisting with town events.

❖ Know and understand all emergency procedures and safety guidelines that will be provided during job orientation.

Qualifications & Requirements

❖ Must provide own safety boots, other safety equipment will be provided (vest, gloves, safety glasses).

❖ Certified in first aid is an asset

❖ Drivers license and access to a vehicle is an asset

❖ Complete a RCMP/RNC Code of Conduct.

❖ Completion of at least Grade 10.

Summer program team lead

Summer Program Team Lead

Duration: 8 Weeks

Hours: 35 Hours/Week

Pay: $17.00/Hour

Job Summary

The Team Lead is responsible for ensuring a positive, energetic, and cohesive work environment among summer student counsellors. They play a key leadership role in fostering teamwork, enthusiasm, and effective communication among staff members while assisting the Recreation Program Manager in overseeing daily camp operations.

Key Responsibilities

❖ Summer Program Team Lead will report to Recreation Program Manager and Recreation Committee Chairperson

❖ Responsible for supervision of counsellors on tasks assigned by Recreation Program Manager and ensuring teamwork

❖ Conduct various games, activities

❖ Supervision and care of all children enrolled in the summer program.

❖ Guide and mentor new counsellors on how to complete tasks, work as a team, and be a role model for children.

❖ Act in as manager when required on Reckids activities.

❖ Communicate effectively with the Recreation Program Manager about staff performance and camper experiences.

❖ Support conflict resolution among staff and promote a positive workplace culture.

❖ Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.

❖ Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.

❖ Ensure all counsellors and children are engaged and having fun

Qualifications & Requirements

❖ Planning, communication, and organizing skills.

❖ Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

❖ Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.

❖ Experience in working with children and leading a team.

❖ Must have the ability to work in a team environment.

❖ Drivers license and access to a vehicle is an asset

❖ Must be in a Post-Secondary program, certified in first aid, and complete an RCMP/RNC Code of Conduct.

Recreation Counsellor

Duration: 7-8 Weeks

Hours: 30 Hours/Week

Pay: $16.00/Hour

 

Job Summary

The Summer Camp Counsellor supervises campers in daily activities while creating a safe, fun, and engaging camp experience. They play a critical role in facilitating games, crafts, sports, and other recreational activities while ensuring the well-being of all participants.

Key Responsibilities

❖ Recreation Counsellor will report to both the Summer Recreation Program Manager and Recreation Committee Chairperson or designate.

❖ Complete supervision and care of all children enrolled for the summer program. Report concerns to the Summer Recreation Manager.

Plan, organize and conduct various games, arts and crafts, and outings to be done daily.

❖ Assisting with town, recreation, and parish events.

❖ Assisting in the community playground canteen.

❖ Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.

❖ Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.

❖ Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for children's safety and their whereabouts at all times.

❖ Other duties as required.
